| The Moffett
Field air base, located around 40 miles south of San Francisco,
was commissioned in 1933. Named after Admiral William A. Moffett,
the base was originally used to store a huge dirigible named
the Macon. When the Navy abandoned Moffett during the 90’s
base closures, Ames took over the facility for research and
development.
This 3-D dataset -- available in 3DS,
3ds max 2+ and VRML -- is ideal for flight simulators, real-time
viewing or rendered aerial views from 50 feet up or higher.
Over 500 low poly buildings were created from the satellite
image, with more detail added to the three hangars, control
tower and the wind tunnel. it is available through Turbosuid,
